The Ledger: Legal Medical Marijuana Has Some Worried
People United for Medical Marijuana are putting forth a strong effort to legalize medical marijuana in Florida. Among the concerns of those opposed are arguments that areas surrounding dispensaries would see lower property values and higher crime rates.
Professor Bridget’s Freisthler’s study examining the impact of dispensaries on neighborhoods in Sacramento is referenced, the results suggested no correlation between crime and dispensaries.
"You hear law enforcement, community activists, everybody making claims," said Freisthler, who was involved in the Sacramento study and is in the middle [of] more research. "But what we really know is actually quite small."
